They Say/I Say Exercises

1.
a) A number of experiments conducted by scientists have recently suggested that there are dangerous levels of Chemical X in the Ohio groundwater.
b) Some may argue that this book is great, but in my opinion I believe this novel has certain flaws.
c) Many say football is boring, but I think the opposite. Football is one of the most exciting and entertaining sports.
d) It has been said that male students often dominate class discussion, but I believe that females contribute in class discussion as much as males.
e) In my opinion the film is about the problems of romantic relationships, while others may argue that the film is about the advantages of romantic relationships.
f) Even though the book stated that the templates will help creativity, I'm afraid that templates will stifle my creativity.

2.
If ever there was an idea custom-made for a Jay Leno monologue, this was it: a common misconception among people is that comics are just for kids. That is like saying that novels over 100 pages are just for adults. It doesn't matter the age of the person, they could read a 1000 page book or a 10 page comic book, it just matters on the preference of the person.
I happen to sympathize with those who believe that comic can be for anyone, perhaps because after reading McCloud I think I could really enjoy comics even though some might think I'm too old to be reading comics.
